Abstract:
In this work, a channel estimation algorithm is proposed for multi-carrier (MC) multi-user multiple input and multiple output (MU-MIMO) systems. The conventional least squares (LS) algorithm is considered and a new algorithm that employs a number of shrinkage factors to improve the mean square error (MSE) performance of the LS approach is then proposed. With an additional complexity that is linearly proportional to the size of the channel matrix, the proposed algorithm leads to a much smaller MSE than the LS approach and some existing MIMO channel estimation algorithms. Simulations are carried out with the IEEE 802.11ac standard channel model for MC MU-MIMO systems.
