Abstract:
In this work, different circular waveguide polariser concepts are analysed for spacecraft applications. By choosing circular waveguides, tilted polariser cascades according to a socalled quarter-wave plate / half-wave plate (QWP/HWP) scheme are possible, which significantly increases the bandwidth of the polariser. Simulation results for axial ratio, return loss and port to port isolation are compared to measured as well as simulated data of a commercially deployed circular waveguide polariser.
