Abstract:
A corrugated transmission-line sensor based on a coplanar waveguide is introduced for broadband liquid sample characterization. A simple calibration approach is adapted for this structure, leading to a fast quantitative extraction of the complex permittivity of the sample. The sensitivity of the corrugated sensor is increased significantly compared to that of a conventional sensor. Ethanol and methanol as well as deionized water and saline solutions of different concentrations are used to validate the sensors experimentally in the frequency range from 0.7 to 20 GHz.
