Abstract:
WISI AUTOMOTIVE and IMST are currently developing a new generation of multiband antenna systems for automotive applications. These systems consist of active modules containing not only the passive antenna radiators but also active transceivers and software defined radio platforms. These so called “intelligent antennas” are able to perform several communication and navigation standards in parallel. Moreover these complex systems can be realized within the same form factor and size as that of conventional passive shark fin antennas. First prototypes have already been built in close co-operation with car manufacturers; some results have already been presented earlier. This paper gives an update on the current status and on the latest tests and measurements.
