Abstract:
This paper presents how an assembly system can be developed to ensure safe and efficient programming of robotic assembly of low-volume, large, complex products. To achieve this, novel programming methods for rapid programming have been developed. Machine vision, force control, and process supervision have been utilized to provide process capability and stability. An industrial demonstrator of the proposed system has been realized in an assembly cell for han-dling of large press tool inserts for automotive products and assembly of large maritime products like ship thrusters.
