Abstract:
Differential mode delay (DMD) management is a possible approach to optically compensate the accumulated group delay spread in few-mode fibers. We analyze the influence of realistic, non random mode coupling on the MDM system memory and show that DMD management can drastically reduce the MDM system memory even under the assumption of realistic non unitary mode coupling.
