Abstract:
In spaceborne remote sensing systems the containment of the system mass is pushing towards the definition of miniaturized and lighter solutions with respect to the past programs. In this context, Thales Alenia Space-Italy (TAS-I) started the “COMPACT SAR” [3] program aimed at investigating the possibility to develop an X-band SAR satellite characterized by low cost and reduced mass and providing medium-high image performance. This paper will describe the design and the relevant performance of the COMPACT SAR Instrument.
