Abstract:
For spaceborne polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) operated at longer wavelength, they are affected not only by system distortions but also Faraday rotation (FR). The data-based calibration techniques in the literature are by design worked in the Faraday rotation free condition. Blind application of those techniques may lead to very large calibration errors. In this paper, we investigate the effect of FR on these data-based calibration algorithm. What these calibration techniques yield are analytically derived. The conditions for successfully application of these algorithm is outlined.
