Abstract:
This paper proposes an adaptive intensity compression approach for visualization of high dynamic Synthetic Aperture Radar image. The wide intensity range of SAR image is first mapped to user-defined short range by using exponential function, where the exponent parameter is adaptively calculated according to the histogram of the original SAR image. The local contrast of transformed image is then adaptively enhanced by a proposed homogeneity measurement, which is a normalized product of stand deviation, entropy and moment. Experiment images including different background contents are used to demonstrate the efficiency of this approach.
