Abstract:
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical sensors (OS) based velocity measurement of ground moving target indication (GMTI) complement their capabilities. But the different techniques can be used also for the comparison and validation of the measurements and data acquisition. In the frame of the project VABENE video sequences were taken from some motorways in Germany/Bavaria and at the same time SAR data acquisition from the same area was carried out. The paper is focused only on the methodical level of the validation of SAR/GMTI and optical video data and discusses, how the velocity of vehicles can be estimated using optical flow with parallelization from video sequences. Further an approach for comparison of the video frames with the SAR measurements with respect to GMTI will be proposed.
