Abstract:
This paper presents the first results of person localization by detection of breathing with the imaging radar system MIRA-CLE Ka (MIMO radar-configurable in Ka-band). MIRA-CLE Ka offers the possibility of imaging a wide area of interest and to analyze minimal movements within the illuminated area. By using 16 transmit and 16 receive elements in a special spatial constellation, the radar antenna frontend synthesizes 256 equidistant virtual elements with only 65 centimeters in width. Due to the the MIMO technique, the system offers a high degree of portability and a wide field of applications. The radar is optimized for mid range operation up to 1 km.
