Abstract:
With the availability of high resolution hybrid polarimetric data from the Indian RISAT-1 and planned SAR systems supporting hybrid polarimetric mode, researchers are actively exploring the capabilities of hybrid polarimetric mode for various applications. In this paper we have analysed the scattering mechanism of different land-covers and crop types using the m-chi decomposition and performed supervised Wishart classification. Hybrid polarimetric data from RISAT-1 is found to be suitable for crop classification as major crops are well distinguished. An overall classification accuracy of 81% and 87% is obtained using May and Nov. 2013 data respectively.
