Abstract:
Single-pass SAR interferometers are extensively used for Digital Elevation Model generation. Large-baseline repeat-pass mode has been less exploited, despite its theoretical capability to yield more precise models. In fact, ideally, the baseline can be increased up to the limit given by the range resolution, and DEMs with relative accuracies comparable to laser models can be generated. Hence, airborne systems become attractive for their flexibility regarding baseline and central frequency choice. In this paper we describe a methodology for generating accurate DEMs combining single- and repeat-pass data from dual frequency (X- and S-band) F-SAR acquisitions.
