Abstract:
The TanDEM-X satellite formation permits improved ocean surface current observation by means of along-track interferometry (ATI) when compared to single-satellite systems. The adjustable imaging geometry of its two cooperating SAR sensors can form an interferometer with high sensitivity to measure very slow motions on the ground. This way, mapping of surface currents with unprecedented accuracy, high spatial resolution and wide coverage at the same time becomes possible. In this paper, we address data acquisition and processing aspects like interferometric baseline geometry, temporal de-correlation and phase calibration for surface current imaging with TanDEM-X.
