Abstract:
Friction is a critical influence factor for the operation of actuators in the process industry. Fouling and corrosion can increase the friction of the actuator which will reduce the performance of the actuator in respect to controlling speed as well as controlling accuracy and can in the worst case inhibit the operation of the actuator. Here, methods have therefore been investigated to measure the friction by using already installed control units and to continuously monitoring the actuator.
