Abstract:
In factory automation, when the contactor is connected to the I/O unit in the programmable logic control (PLC), the relay has heavy load of switching the inductive load due to the contactor coil. In order to develop the long life time and high reliable relay for the PLC, we attempt to reveal the effect of relay housing seal on contact resistance at inductive load experimentally. Firstly, when the condition of the relay housing seal vary the open type, seal type and covered with coating resin type, the relay switching waveforms of the contact voltage and the current at AC contactor load are discussed from initial to 1x106 times operations. Secondary, to clarify the contact resistance, the waveform of voltage and arc duration in the breaking DC circuit are discussed. Finally, the contact resistance is discussed. The duration of gaseous phase arc and contact damage at the relay with the leak less housing become short and small. Therefore the contact resistance can be low and the long-time stably. This study provides the basic considerations on the high reliable electromagnetic relay.
