Abstract:
There is an ever rising demand for high voltage relays with a compact size due to electric mobility and decentralised power generation by means of PV systems. Presently gas-filled relays are used for these applications. They feature a compact design and low power consumption. The article in hand was written on the occasion of a project where a high voltage relay (rated data 450VDC; 200A) was developed which works without protective gas atmosphere. After optimising the magnetic field as described in the following, the technical data of standard gas-filled automotive relays were exceeded.
