Abstract:
The introduction of decentralized generation and new loads such as electric vehicles and heat pumps is changing load behavior within modern Smart Grids. With each new consumer type, the complexity of modelling demand and generation profiles increases. Furthermore, there is a need to incorporate demand side management (DSM) and investigate the limits to which these techniques can influence grid behavior. The NEMO tool suit is an integrated simulation tool that aids in integrative planning and operation of electricity grids. DSM as well as grid reinforcements are explored as possible ways to solve grid issues. The applicability of the suite is successfully demonstrated by modeling real grids in Denmark and Germany.
