Abstract:
The planning tool introduced here is an application for the holistic dynamic analysis of an urban district. The goal is the optimization, according to energetic and economic criteria, of the energy supply system of a mixed-use area, which is characterized by the co-existence of residential and industrial buildings. Based on this holistic dynamic analysis, synergy effects between energy intensive industry and residential areas can be developed and both primary energy demand and CO2 emissions can be reduced. Furthermore, this paper provides an overview about existing software tools and approaches in modelling a city district. In general this tool is suitable for city district planners due to its simplification and especially the visualization possibilities in the geographical information system (GIS) interface. It offers possibility to model and simulate both mixed-use areas and pure residential areas in a very structured way.
