Abstract:
This paper investigates the economic potential of local PV generation at EV car parks under consideration of empirical driving profiles, variable electricity prices and individual PV generation patterns. Using a simulation framework and a mixed-integer linear program, we examine the PV share which is utilized for EV charging and the corresponding charging costs. Considering optimized charging, PV shares of 50% can be realized and charging costs per kWh can be reduced by 18% as compared to uncoordinated charging without local PV generation. The regulatory regime has a strong impact on the results as charging costs reductions drop when the surplus of PV generation at summertime is not remunerated but compensated by the lower market price. In this case, only small PV installations are profitable, corresponding to achievable PV shares of about 25%.
