Abstract:
Impulsive interference can be a huge problem for the reliable reception for radio communication systems. L-band Digital Aeronautical Communication System 1 (L-DACS 1) which is based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is one example because its spectrum is located within the frequency range of the impulsive Distance Measuring Equipment (DME). A filter bank is proposed in a companion paper which mitigates this interference by means of subband selective pulse blanking. In addition, we propose a complexity reduced scheme which employs Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) block processing and Hann windowing. It is shown that the proposed approach offers a good trade-off between interference mitigation and complexity.
