Abstract:
We discuss the benefits of a linear precoding stage based solely on second order information of the channel with application to massive MIMO networks. Specifically, the proposed channel distribution information (CDI) precoding is used to completely suppress the interference caused by pilot contamination, thus leading to a significant gain in spectral efficiency for pilotcontamination limited massive MIMO systems. When applied to a corparative multi-cell system, we can show that the proposed precoding approach is a generalization of the pilot-contamination precoding proposed by Ashikhmin and Marzetta in 2012.
