Abstract:
Dense Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) enable sensing and actuation applications with savings in configuration efforts and weight, which are critical parameters in some environments such as airplanes. A WSN has to additionally ensure given levels of determinism, such as timing guarantees for safety-related applications. Currently, single-hop WSNs with static TDMA is a prevailing approach to such deterministic WSNs, requiring a scheduling of applications to time slots within the MAC resource management. We propose an efficient formulation of a binary linear program to solve the scheduling problem and show its practical effectiveness for an aircraft cabin case.
