Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) consists out of many cellular enabled devices which are not attended. Those devices have to compete in a price conscious market and were built by non-IT companies. Those devices are now connecting to the Internet via cellular means. Recently, some attacks on the Signalling System No 7 (SS7) have been published. SS7 is the communication protocol used for communication between networks e.g. roaming network. It is widely deployed and used. In this article, we will introduce and describe how some of the attacks might be used in an IoT environment and what might be the consequences.
