Abstract:
A handheld direction-of-arrival estimation device with two antenna elements was developed for localizing with RFID transponder marked fawns. With this device a user shall be able to find fawns in high grass up to a short distance of 0.5 m. In this paper an array manifold manipulation technique is presented to optimize direction-of-arrival estimation results at short distances to the targets. Measurement results with the handheld device are presented and evaluated with different calculated array manifolds. It can be shown that the new calculated array manifolds improve DOA results in short distances.
