Abstract:
The efficiency and the power density of electrical drives can be increased by an optimized electromagnetic design. An electromagnetic design for an ironless permanent magnet (PM) synchronous machine with a suitable number of pole pairs and coils is highly important because of the missing guidance of the magnetic flux by the ferric active parts. Different motor concepts are introduced. The parameters of optimization are described, its influence on the motor performance is examined by mathematical models and the results of the optimization process are experimentally tested.
