Abstract:
Due to the development in Europe towards a more decentralized and renewable energy system, distribution grids are increasingly often reaching their capacity limits, leading to violations of voltage boundaries and capacity constraints. In order to reduce the necessary investment costs, automation systems for distribution grids are therefore commonly accepted as a valuable alternative to conventional grid enhancement. The scope of the presented paper is a comprehensive description of a distribution grid automation system being developed, its components and functionalities as well as the research carried out in order to develop an integrated system for both LV- and MV-level distribution grids.
