Abstract:
Drivers like the further integration of distributed generation units, the possibility of demand side management and the availability of technology at acceptable costs increase the number of intelligent applications, such as generation side management, equipment monitoring and remote switching, in distribution grids. The functionality of those intelligent applications is partly dependent on an information and communication technology system (ICT-system). This paper presents the research results on a new approach for the evaluation of grid reliability from customers’ point of view, which takes into account interactions between intelligent applications, distribution grid and ICT-system. Thereby the work focuses on the correct modelling of time dependencies of power demand and injection as well as failure rates. First results using the new approach emphasize its benefits for the evaluation of reliability in distribution grids depending on an ICT-system.
