Abstract:
In electricity supply systems with high and still rising penetration rates of distributed generation (DG) a reliable provision of basic system ancillary services by all kinds of power generating plants becomes increasingly important. As the system changes in the course of the German ‘Energiewende’ new technological challenges require innovative solutions and an on-going evolution in terms of technical requirements for PGPs. In this paper the development of technical requirements for DG and corresponding compliance verification schemes in Germany is discussed in the context of worldwide still rapidly rising penetration rates especially of DG based on renewable energy resources (RES). Additionally recommendations on efficient grid integration of large numbers of DG are given.
