Abstract:
This paper presents a traffic light assistant combining C2X (also known as V2X) and mobile communication to support the driver in the intersection area. It extracts signal timing, tailback, geometry and hazard information of intersections and combines it with internal vehicle data. The traffic related information can be provided to the driver enabling an efficient and safer driving behavior. In this paper concepts for processing, management and visualization of C2X and TSI (Traffic Signal Information) messages are described. The functional prototype was developed as part of the research project UR:BAN (Urban Space: User oriented assistance systems and network management) and tested in real traffic.
