Abstract:
The demand for value-added telecommunication services has increased over the last years. Major challenges arise especially for service providers who have to provide a fast transition from concept to market product and have to offer low prices for their products to satisfy their customers. Besides the already integrated Service Creation Environments to enable service developers to rapidly create new and individual services, service providers also have to consider the quality of their delivered services and have to make sure that the customers receive the products they expected. In this paper, we propose a novel testing process and framework for functional testing which is based on a new sort of specification or rather description language for value-added services, the Service Test Description (STD). The STD is embedded within the novel test framework and its structure supports the reusability of composable reusable test modules which are based on Statecharts notation. Furthermore, the structure of the STD supports the validation of services and allows an agile approach with customer involvement.
