Abstract:
Ground moving target indication (GMTI) is a fundamental task of airborne radar systems. As is well known, the performance of the signal processing used for this purpose can be significantly improved if additional information relating to the observed scene is taken into account. However, most of the open literature considers knowledge aided processing for radar systems with fully digitized active electronically scanned array antennas (AESA). In this paper, we provide solutions for applying these techniques to AESA radar with subarrays. Our findings are illustrated using multichannel radar data acquired with the SAR/GMTI demonstrator system PAMIR, developed at Fraunhofer FHR.
