Abstract:
Spaceborne SAR ambiguity effect imposes significant restrictions on wide swath high resolution modes implementation. Using active electronically scanned array (AESA) with digital beamforming allows to get round fundamental limitations caused by ambiguity effect. It allows to implement high resolution modes and expand swath (imaged area in Spotlight modes). In this article the principles of multi-channel modes for spaceborne X-band SAR with AESA are considered. Requirements for the formation of multi-beam pattern are formed and examples of multi-channel Spotlight, ScanSAR, Stripmap and Sliding Spotlight Modes implementation are presented.
