Abstract:
Spaceborne P-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is affected by scintillation effect, which has a strong impact on the imaging quality and relevant applications. Faraday rotation (FR) based correction method is proposed in former research, while the accuracy of this method is not analysed from the point of view of polarimetric errors (including cross-talk and channel imbalance) and system noise. The accuracy for ionospheric scintillation correction with estimating Faraday rotation in spaceborne P-band SAR is quantitatively analysed with ALOS-PALSAR data in this paper. Meanwhile, thresholds of polarimetric errors and system noise are proposed so as to guarantee the correction accuracy.
