Abstract:
SAR images have a number of specific features mainly due to the coherent nature of the illumination that can be observed in the particular properties of statistical distributions of power and amplitude of image pixels. A number of theoretical and empirical models are used to model end estimate the probability density functions (PDF) of images. To test the correspondence between real SAR image PDFs and different theoretical models a number of SAR images obtained by airborne SAR "COMPACT" in X, L, P and VHF bands at the same time and in the same conditions were analyzed. The results of comparison of image PDF's in different frequency bands for different surface types are presented.
