Abstract:
In recent researches, the polarization orientation angle (OA) shift caused by terrain slopes and oriented buildings can be compensated by the rotation about the radar line of sight, so the OA compensation (OAC) has been widely utilized for improving the accuracy of the model-based decomposition and the eigenvalue/eigenvector analysis using the roll-variant indices for averaged T3/C3 matrix. For urban area observation using low resolution L-band ALOS/PALSAR data, the characteristics of polarimetric OA and effectiveness of the OAC have already been validated, by executing theoretical and experimental analyses for simplified building models. In this paper, for appropriate estimation of high resolution ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 data, we investigate behavior of polarization OA shift for a simplified buildings model, by analyzing the measurement data for variation of radar incident angle.
