Abstract:
Detecting small and agile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is gaining increasing interest because of the threat they can cause. Due to their low cost and easy operability they can be used for spying and terrorist actions. Hobby drones can get out of control and harm people or infrastructure like airports. A study is undertaken in this paper to investigate the capability of imaging multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems to detect UAVs. First results of a large measurement campaign devoted to this topic are presented.
