Abstract:
To successfully enable the development of new SAR systems it has been widely recognized that there exists a need to revisit the role of the atmosphere in some detail. The propagation of signals through the atmosphere may exhibit widespread behavior depending on the new and varied systems parameters, the configuration of the sensors used for data acquisition and the actual state of the atmosphere. In this contribution we review, identify and address several issues related to propagation effects with respect to future SAR systems. Some new corrections methods will be suggested and initial conclusion drawn.
