There are a number of tracking solutions on the basis of RFID. A big challenge is using passive RFID tags for localization. The phase measurement is one method for locating RFID tags. A specific form of phase measurement is Phase Difference of Arrival (PDoA) and is discussed in a large number of papers by different views. This paper will provide a close overview of approaches based on this method. Various gaps in some of the approaches based on PDoA will be identified. Applicability and their limits are discussed.
