Abstract:
Design of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) using customized hardware (intellectual-property cores) becomes a big challenge as the mixed-signal circuits are integrated and the interaction with the physical environment has to be considered. System architects have always to strike a balance between flexibility and efficiency when the hardware and software are developed separately using traditional design process. The model based design methodology has been studied and applied in the design of embedded systems in the recent years. It enables virtual prototyping of the hardware components and software development before the physical prototypes been carried out. In this work, we present a high-level model based design methodology for designing heterogeneous system using SystemC and its extensions for communication (-TLM) and Analog-Mixed Signal systems (-AMS). The objective of this work is to accelerate software development when combined with AMS circuits. An industrial application on a Battery Management System (BMS) including the Battery Management Integrated Chip (BMIC) is presented to reveal the efficiency and flexibility of such design method.
