Abstract:
We experimentally demonstrate a 10-mode fibre amplifier consisting of EDFs with a stepand- ring erbium concentration profile. We achieve a low differential modal gain below 3.5 dB and a low noise figure (4.5-7.0 dB) with a core-pumped configuration in the C-band.
