Abstract:
Continuous concentration measurements are especially interesting for controlling purposes in circulation systems. Optical methods are often preferred, because of their high precision at moderate technical affords. However, the opacity of the medium often prevents the application. The integration of an ultrafiltration membrane into a lattice-like skeletal structure enables the optical in-line measurement also in translucent or opaque media. For this purpose a miniaturized measurement chamber has been constructed which consists of a skeletal structure and an ultra filtration membrane. The skeletal structure has been built by the selective laser melting process (SLM). It contains the form-closed ends for the mounting of the light source and the optical components as well as cable channels inside the tubular chamber. The separation function is performed by an asymmetric membrane which has been built by the sol-gel technology.
