Abstract:
This work discusses the benefits of a modular scheme for grid inverters of various components of modern power systems. The grid applications considered in this work are wind turbines, battery packs and static synchronous compensators (STATCOM). The grid connecting scheme is based on the parallel connection of several inverter-modules. The advantages of such a concept as far as reliability, costoptimization and grid behavior are in detail presented. Field measurements of a wind turbine validate the optimal grid behavior of the modular topology.
