Abstract:
Based on the example of a small wind energy generator in outer rotor construction, the following article deals with the development of a coupled electromagnetic-fluidic-mechanical-thermal model. Numerical models have been used for the derivation of analytical approximations. Experimental investigations based on prototype tests under defined load and cooling conditions, as well as flow measurements for determining the volume flow of cooling air, are used for the verification of the analytical algorithm. Due to the inner stator tube cooling approx. 80% of the stator losses are dissipated directly which allows increasing the electromagnetic utilization by up to 50 % compared to the conventional construction.
