Abstract:
This work attempts to enhance the state-of-the-art intrinsic safety of Lithium-ion battery cells by integrating a monitoring device inside every cell. The cell monitoring circuit is a compact system containing sensor elements, local memory blocks, a microcontroller and a communication interface. The mechanical feasibility and the integration of the circuits inside the cells was proved and cell-internal data were successfully measured and extracted. The temperature measurement accuracy is at 1 K. The battery voltage is measured with an accuracy of 1 mV and a maximum offset of 100 mV.
