The paradigm shift of the German energy system has led to far-reaching changes in many areas of energy technology and energy supply. Many applications and solutions are continuously becoming more complex and multilayered. It can be anticipated that the networking of appliances in residential districts and network areas will be reinforced in the future. A holistic view, which takes into account the linking of several appliances amongst each other, is therefore absolutely necessary. The simulation environment "eSE - elenia simulation environment" presented in this paper offers the possibility to efficiently display energetic investigations in the area of residential districts and energy management.
