Abstract:
The Energiewende demands a transformation of energy systems on national as well as European levels. Several studies are dealing with the translation of political climate and energy targets into pathways of power generating technologies outlining possible future European energy systems. These studies are based on different assumptions resulting in divergent propositions. Our research provides an analysis of 17 relevant scenarios applying following criteria: the applied models, the assumptions and the resulting pathways up to 2050. Additionally, we provide a framework to assess the results of further studies.
