Abstract:
This paper presents the results of the FLOW-R project in which a novel regulator for meshed operated low-voltage grids was developed. To prevent thermal overloads of cables, the regulator can control currents and voltages of several lines by adding a complex control voltage to the grid voltage. Based on the developed characteristic curve method it can fulfill several control targets, like setpoint or limit control. The regulator has been tested in a laboratory study and subsequently in a real grid. Besides the test results, this paper presents a strategy for an optimal placement in a grid.
