Abstract:
Due to the complexity and heterogeneity of DER systems as well as their dependency on environmental conditions, the aggregator role needs to address the complexity of integrating such components into the electricity grid. To enable the exchange of real-time capability information of such DER systems and to allow the aggregator downside market interaction with DER systems, the Open System for Energy Services Project (OS4ES) introduces the architecture for a common registry for DER capability descriptions and a semantic middleware to facilitate market oriented and state information exchange communication between aggregators and DER systems. In this paper, an overview of the lab and field testing results of the OS4ES is given. The testing and simulation setup within the projects shows the applicability of the approach for a wide range of different energy and flexibility applications and business cases to be realized with such a distributed registry system.
