Industry 4.0 consists of multiple new communication technologies and standards like 5G, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). This heterogeneous set of technologies needs to be used in combination. In order to achieve the required combination, the need of gateways emerges. This paper will present an architectural design based on a requirements analysis of a gateway which combines the real-time technology TSN with the non-deterministic SDN while preserving the real-time capabilities of the TSN network.
